Grilled cheese sandwiches have been a favorite of mine since I was a little girl! What’s not to love about warm, crunchy bread and gooey cheese? And now that I have two daughters of my own, it’s so much fun to enjoy them together!
My bacon, tomato, and avocado grilled cheese always comes out delicious! Although I sometimes change up the ingredients inside of my grilled cheese, two essential elements always stay the same: Borden® Cheese and Breakstone’s® Butter! I love that Borden® American Cheese Singles fit perfectly on my bread and that Breakstone’s® Butter makes the outside of my sandwich rich and toasty.
I picked up my Borden® Cheese and Breakstone’s® Butter in the dairy section of Bi-Lo. You can use the link below to get a digital coupon and save $2.00 on both! (link to coupon)
When you’re ready to make your grilled cheese, make sure to take your Breakstone’s® Butter out of the fridge 15-20 minutes in advance. This will help it soften so that it can spread smoothly on your bread.
To get started on your sandwich, you need to heat a pan or skillet. Go ahead and cook your turkey bacon first. As the bacon is cooking, slice the tomatoes and mash the avocados. Set your cooked bacon, tomatoes, and avocados aside for just a moment.
Now, take 4 slices of bread and spread Breakstone’s butter on one side of each of them. This is going to give your sandwich that crispy texture on the outside. I use about 1/2 tablespoon, but you can eyeball it and add more or less if you like. Place the bread in your pan, butter side down, and start layering your cheese, bacon, and tomatoes.
After that, grab your last four pieces of bread and spread a spoonful of avocado on each of them. Place the avocado side of the bread on your tomatoes and spread the rest of your butter on the top of each sandwich.
You want to let your bread sizzle in the pan for 2-3 minutes, letting it get golden while your cheese melts. When you’re ready, use a spatula to flip your sandwich over and toast up the other side for 2-3 minutes.
Once both sides of your sandwiches are lightly browned, put them on a plate. I like to cut our grilled cheese into triangles and serve them to my girls with a little fresh fruit.
Voila! Easy and delicious!
