Tissue Paper Hearts

The Cinnamon Mom, stay at home mom blogger

We recently got a package in the mail and it was stuffed with so much tissue paper! I immediately knew that I wanted to craft with it and the first thing that popped into my mind was tissue paper hearts. I figured they’d be fun to make with Belly and would be a super cute decoration for Love Day!

I wouldn’t consider this a fast craft, but it is very easy and kids can definitely help. You probably already have everything you need at home and the finished product is so pretty!

Tissue Paper Hearts

Materials

  • tissue paper (I used about 3 sheets per heart)
  • cardboard
  • scissors
  • a hole punch
  • glue
  • ribbon

Instructions

1. Cut the tissue paper into small squares and make heart shapes out of cardboard. If you aren’t confident in your ability to freehand, just use a pencil to draw your shape before cutting.
2. Punch a hole in the top of each heart so you’ll be able to string it later.
3. Start folding and squishing the tissue paper squares and gluing them down. It doesn’t have to be uniform or perfect, just fill in any obvious gaps with more tissue paper.
4. Feed a piece of ribbon through the holes and tie a knot.
5. Hang up your hearts and admire your beautiful work!

I cannot emphasize enough how easy this is! Don’t worry about folding the tissue paper in a specific way or placing them precisely. Just keep covering the cardboard and it will all come together in the end!
