When you’re a stay-at-home mom, getting sick is the absolute worst! Having energy and patience for little ones is hard enough when you’re healthy, but it’s even more of a challenge if you’re under the weather. After being home full time with my daughters, ages 2 and 4, I’ve definitely learned some vital sick-day survival skills. Keep reading to see how I maneuver through days when I’m feeling less than my best!
Be Prepared
Illnesses usually hit unexpectedly, so you definitely want to keep your medicine cabinet well-stocked. Johnson & Johnson is committed to supporting families, and they have all of the items you need on your quest to wellness. Two of their products we always have in our home are Zyrtec® and TYLENOL®.
My husband and I have horrible seasonal allergies, especially with the thick pollen in South Carolina. Zyrtec® has been great for relieving our sneezes and sniffles. And TYLENOL® is the perfect solution for all of the headaches and germs that motherhood brings my way. I keep it handy to ease my headaches and to battle occasional cold symptoms.
Now is actually the perfect time to stock up on all of your Johnson & Johnson essentials. When you spend $30 or more on participating Johnson & Johnson products in-store, you’ll earn a $10 reward. They have a huge lineup of beauty and health products so it’s easy to find what you need. Just hold on to your receipt, and then click here to upload it and redeem your offer!
This offer is valid from 12/29/19-02/01/20 and only applies to purchases made in-store. Be sure to choose your reward by 02/29/19.
Rest
Sickness is your body’s ways of saying it needs a break. I know rest is the hardest thing to do when you’re solely responsible for your kids all day, but try your very best to take it easy. Seriously, don’t even think about running errands or doing housework. Dirty dishes and laundry can wait a couple of days.
If your kiddos take naps, that’s the ideal time to squeeze in some shuteye. And there’s definitely no shame in having a movie marathon while they’re awake. Your kids will honestly think it’s amazing if they get to watch TV all day, and it will hopefully be a good distraction for them so that you can relax.
Fluids
My grandma and my mom always instilled in me the importance of fluids on sick days. Getting your 8 glasses of water (or more) is a huge element on your road to recovery, so guzzle as much as you can. Soup and tea are also great for getting more fluids and can help soothe an upset tummy or itchy throat.
Ask for Help
Sick days are the perfect time to call on your backup! Maybe it’s your mom, a friend, a neighbor, or your husband if he has a flexible schedule. If anyone is willing to watch your kids, drop off a meal, or handle an errand for you, let them. I know moms build their reputation on being resilient, but there’s no glory in toughing it out on your own. Don’t hesitate to ask if you need some assistance.
Get Well Soon
When mom doesn’t feel well, it’s difficult for the rest of the household to function normally. TYLENOL® or Zyrtec®, along with some basic self-care, are usually all I need to get back up and going.
Don’t wait until you’re sick to stock up on your wellness necessities! You can find plenty of Johnson & Johnson products to help every member of your family stay healthy all year round. Spend $30 in-store, upload your receipt onto your mobile device or computer, and get your $10 reward. Learn more here!
Remember, you have until 02/01/20 to submit your receipt and until 02/29/19 to choose your reward. Online receipts are not eligible for this reward, so make sure to shop at your nearest store.
