I’m always on the hunt for low-stress ways to feed my family, and this build-your-own tuna sandwich board hits the mark! It’s simple to put together and there’s an added touch of fun because it’s interactive! Each person in my family enjoys tuna, but we have different sandwich filling preferences. My kids couldn’t wait to get their hands on this board and create exactly what they wanted to eat!
The most important element of our tuna sandwich board is the StarKist E.V.O.O.™ tuna pouches! I love using this tuna because you don’t have to drain it or do anything extra to prepare it. Just tear open the pouch and it’s ready to go!
StarKist E.V.O.O.™ comes in four savory varieties of tuna and salmon. Each of them is GMO-free, gluten-free, and soy-free. They’re also a natural source of Omega 3s and a good source of protein!
Although the four flavors all taste fantastic, for this board, we mixed together two pouches of StarKist E.V.O.O.™ Wild-Caught Yellowfin Tuna in Extra Virgin Olive Oil and two pouches of StarKist E.V.O.O.™ Wild-Caught Yellowfin Tuna with Lemon Pepper in Extra Virgin Olive Oil! The pouches are packed in cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil, so they have a wholesome, mellow taste and tender texture. The lemon pepper adds a subtle flair!
You can definitely experiment with the other types of StarKist E.V.O.O.™ tuna and salmon as well as different condiments and toppings, but here are all of the ingredients we used on our tuna sandwich board:
- whole wheat rolls
- pita bread
- hummus
- mayonnaise
- grape tomatoes
- avocados
- cucumbers
- carrots
- provolone cheese
- cheddar cheese
- almonds
- dried fruit
We’re thinking about including pickles, celery, Greek olives, and pesto on our next board! What would you add to yours?
There’s no real secret to arranging your food! I started with the tuna in the center, the bread and pitas in the corners, and then I just found a spot for everything else. It’s all going to get dug into anyway!
If you want your sandwiches to be more like tuna melts, you can warm your tuna in the bowl before placing it on the board. I actually appreciate that there doesn’t have to be heat involved in this meal and it’s perfect for us straight from the pouches.
Nothing beats the convenience and taste of StarKist E.V.O.O.™ tuna and salmon. They’re great for meals and snacks and the different flavors work well in pasta, casseroles, salads, or even just eaten with some whole-grain crackers. There are endless options for everything you crave!
Thank you again to StarKist E.V.O.O.™ for sponsoring our amazing tuna sandwich board! Be sure to add these pouches to your next grocery list!
