Morning Routine for Moms to Relax and Focus

As a mommy of two energetic toddlers, I depend on a morning routine to help me get focused and motivated. With Spring upon us and the clocks changing this month, it’s the perfect time to reevaluate how you start your day!

It’s no secret that raising tiny humans is tiring (like really, really exhausting). It can be tricky to take care of yourself when your mind is constantly consumed with your family’s needs. I’ve learned that being intentional about my morning routine makes a big difference in how productive and happy I am throughout the rest of my day!

Wake Up First

Although I cherish sleep as much as the next mama, waking up first is the best way for me to be more organized and patient. I’m not saying you have to get up hours earlier, but even 20 minutes of alone time can give you more peace of mind. For me, it helps to have a moment with my thoughts before my family wakes up and I have to start thinking for them, too.

Tea Time

Yoga

Depending on how much time I have before my kids come downstairs, I’ll do 10 to 30 minutes of gentle yoga. Along with the tea, it’s a great way to warm up my body and help me feel flexible and strong.

Eat Breakfast

My husband is typically off to work by this point, but I’ll always sit with my daughters and have a little breakfast. I like feeding them as soon they’re awake so that they start the day in a good mood, too!

Make a List

As I finish my tea and eat breakfast, I jot my to-do list and set our schedule. Any major tasks or activities for the day go on that list so that I can make sure nothing important is forgotten. I also tell my daughters the plan so that we’re all on the same page and they know what behavior I expect from them.

Once my list is done, we start getting dressed and ready to leave the house. It’s amazing how much these simple actions make me feel prepared for the day.
