We’re about a week into social distancing and I finally decided that we needed a daily schedule! The girls and I usually have a predictable routine, but it’s been thrown off since a) we can’t go anywhere and b) my husband has been home more than usual.
After way too much snacking, hours of TV, vanishing bedtimes, and a whole lotta free play, I think we were all longing for some order. This morning, I typed up this daily schedule template and ran it through my laminator so I could write on it with a dry erase marker. After one day of structure, I already feel less scatterbrained!
A daily schedule is the best way to get organized, keep kids busy, prevent unwanted behavior, and provide consistency. This schedule is very similar to our pre-pandemic routine. Although it revolves around eating and sleeping, the time frames can be flexible and the block activities will vary each day (except for school, which we always try to do first thing).
I mostly love that I can map out our plans in the morning and then not have to come up with new ideas later on when I’m tired or flustered. It’s definitely what we needed to restore some semblance of normalcy.

Do you like having an agenda? Or are you more spontaneous?
