Hi friends! It’s almost February which means it’s time to bust out the red, pink, and hearts. I looked back at all of my girls’ favorite Valentine’s crafts and activities and compiled the top hits in this one post. Whether you’re a teacher, homeschool mama, or just planning a low-key Love Day gathering, the kids in your life will adore these cute ideas.
Cotton Ball Heart Painting
Cotton ball heart painting is inexpensive and makes a unique Valentine’s gift or decor piece. The materials we used can all be found at Dollar Tree and it is impossible to mess up!
Stamp Table
All I did for our Valentine’s stamp table was tape a big piece of paper to the girls’ table, write on it with markers, and give them stamps to trace the letters and shapes. It was a super easy way to practice skills and keep them busy!
Heart Tear Art
Heart tear art takes zero prep time and always comes out super cute! Have the kids grab scraps of colored construction paper, rip it into small pieces, and glue it together however they want!
Colorful Rice Bin
To make colorful rice, grab a large Ziploc bag and pour in a cup of rice, a couple of drops of food coloring, and a tablespoon of vinegar. Shake and squish the bag to spread the color around and then lay it out on a tray to dry for about an hour. We made red, pink, and purple and then I added random utensils to keep my kids playing all afternoon!
Mess-Free Heart Painting
This mess-free finger painting, with a love-inspired twist, is such a fun time for toddlers and preschoolers. And it’s even more fun for mommies because it takes literally three minutes to prep and there’s zero cleanup involved. We used Valentine’s Day as an opportunity to discuss what colors we could mix to create pink and purple.
Tissue Paper Hearts
Tissue paper hearts aren’t necessarily fast, but they are very easy and kids can definitely help. You probably already have everything you need at home and the finished product is so pretty!
Microwave Heart Crayons
We’ve made heart crayons in the oven, but I actually prefer the microwave because it was safer for the kids to help. You can do any color combinations and the finished crayons color just as vibrantly as they did before being melted. They also make great Valentines for classmates and friends!
Pink and Purple Homemade Playdough
Our homemade playdough uses ingredients that we usually have in our kitchen and the steps are really easy to follow. My daughters love dying it festive colors and forming it into hearts of all sizes.
Pluffle Sensory Tray
This is perfect for Valentine’s Day sensory play! Just fill a tray with multiple colors of Playfoam Pluffle, add themed manipulatives, spoons, and scoops, and watch your little love explore the different shapes, textures, and colors.
Heart Fruit Snack Building
Heart fruit snacks and toothpicks are always a good time! Just give your kiddos the supplies and let them create while they snack. Whatever they decide to make, their minds are hard at work, and clean-up is always delicious!
