Thank you Brainiac™ Kids for sponsoring this post. Brain food kids want to eat!
One of my goals as a parent is to raise independent children. Although my daughters are only four and two, I give them plenty of opportunities to practice doing things by themselves so that they can develop confidence in their abilities. That includes encouraging them to put on their own clothes, clean up their own toys, and even get their own snacks.
I make that last task a little easier by setting up a snack shelf in our home that’s just for them. By doing this, my kids find that they don’t have to depend on me every time they want a quick bite. I’m available to assist if needed, but they learn that they are capable of solving their own hunger.
If you’re ready for the next step toward independence, keep reading for a few tips to set up a snack shelf for your little ones!
Designate a Space
The best way to make your children self-sufficient is to give them easy access to everything that belongs to them. The more they can reach by themselves, the less they have to ask for help.
Choose an area of your kitchen that would be best for your snack stash. Ideally, that spot would be at their height, easy to open and close, and a safe distance from the oven and stove. We have a cabinet in our kitchen right next to the refrigerator that works perfectly for my girls.
Kid-Friendly Snacks
When it comes to choosing snacks for my kids, I love finding food that is healthy, convenient, and delicious. One snack we currently have that fits all of that criteria is Brainiac™ Kids applesauce. These pouches taste amazing and are made without any added sugars or artificial preservatives. They pick their apples at peak freshness and then wash, peel, and puree them so that they keep their natural sweetness.
Something else that’s really unique about Brainiac™ Kids applesauce is that each serving has what they refer to as the BrainPack®. It’s a special blend that gives kiddos as much omega-3 DHA/EPA as 1oz of salmon and as much choline as 2 cups of broccoli. All of this is so important for the learning and exploring their busy minds do each day!
Stay Stocked
Even though your kids are now able to get their snacks, they are not responsible for grocery shopping. Make sure to keep that snack shelf full at all times so that they won’t have to defer to you.
Brainiac™ Kids makes it really easy because their applesauce can be ordered on Amazon.com. With the click of a button, you can have all three delicious flavors (apple, strawberry, and cinnamon) at your doorstep. Yay for online shopping!
