I thought it would be fun to bring a touch of Halloween into our house. This spider snack is incredibly easy to make and kids think it’s hilarious to “eat spiders”!
My favorite part about this spider snack is that kids can do all of the work themselves. We actually had a few of my nephews over recently and all of the children had the best time assembling (and eating) their spider creations. I just put the ingredients on the table and they did the rest. Even my little two-year-old got in on the fun!
All we used were round crackers, peanut butter, pretzel sticks, and mini chocolate chips. I also gave each of the kids a paper plate and plastic knife.
To make a spider snack, you first spread 1 tablespoon of peanut butter on one cracker. Then arrange 8 pretzel sticks in the peanut butter to make legs. Once your legs are in place, top your spiders with another cracker. Finish it off by putting a tiny dab of peanut butter on two mini chocolate chips and sticking them on the top cracker to make eyes.
If you have allergies or different taste preferences, you can easily substitute any of the ingredients. Frosting, cream cheese, or hummus can be used instead of peanut butter and raisins or sprinkles also make cute eyes.
The kids thought the jack-o-lantern oranges were super fun, too! If you like, you can give your kids some markers to draw their own faces. It’s always cute to see what expressions they come up with!
