Looking for a yummy drink to share this holiday season? Pumpkin Pie Spice Hot Cocoa is a fun way to jazz up a traditional treat! I take a lot of shortcuts here so get ready for the easiest hot chocolate you’ve ever made!
Full disclosure: There is no actual pumpkin in this drink. It has pumpkin pie spices, meaning all of the flavors that go into a pumpkin pie. I’m talking nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves, and ginger. You can add them each individually or just use buy McCormick Pumpkin Pie Spice in a little bottle. It’s yummy either way!
Also, I highly suggest getting a whole canister of hot cocoa mix rather than individual little packets. A large container is more cost-effective and it’s easier to measure the exact amount that you want. Plus, it’ll last much longer.
When you make your hot cocoa, don’t use water! We drink almond milk in our house, but basically any form of milk (dairy, soy, oat) will give your hot cocoa a creamier consistency than water.
Just stir the milk, hot cocoa mix, pumpkin pie spice, and a sprinkle of salt in a saucepan on medium heat. Whisk it every couple of minutes until all of the liquid is combined and hot, about 10 minutes. The salt beautifully enhances the flavor of the chocolate and the pumpkin pie spice is noticeable without being overbearing.
I toss a handful of mini marshmallows in mine for fun and dip in cinnamon graham crackers to have a tasty crunch. The popcorn is just a nice snack that balances the sweetness of the hot cocoa.
My husband and kids have been loving this! The girls literally ask for it every day and I honestly have the hardest time saying no! It’s amazing!
