Our Kids’ Bedtime Routine with Pact Dream Big Pajamas

In our house, the kids’ bedtime routine is non-negotiable. Sleep is essential for their bodies to grow and recharge after a busy day of playing and learning.

My daughters are four and six now and we’ve had the same foolproof routine since they were babies. This consistent nightly plan is the best way for both of them to wind down and ensure that everyone, including me and my husband, gets a great night’s sleep!

This post is sponsored by Moms Meet and Pact, but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.

Showers

Right after dinner, usually around 7:00pm, the girls take a shower and wash off the dirt/paint/chalk/food/sweat from the day. We give them a shower instead of a bath because it’s faster and uses less water. Just a quick scrub in warm water and they’re done!

Put on Pajamas

When the girls get out of the shower, they rub on lotion and change into clean pajamas. They’ve been wearing these Pact Dream Big Pajamas lately and I can’t rave about them enough!

First of all, they’re soft and tagless so I don’t have to worry about their sensitive skin being irritated. We obviously want our little ones to be comfortable while they sleep and these pajamas check that box.

Pact jammies are also eco-friendly! They’re Fair Trade Certified, which means they’re made under the most humane, environmentally conscious conditions. And Pact makes their clothing with organic cotton so there are no toxic chemicals and they take 91% less water to manufacture than conventional cotton. Isn’t it fun finding new ways to care for the planet?

We ordered the set that comes with this pretty rose color and rainbows, but they have several different prints and colors in kids’ sizes 18 months to 10. Be sure to visit the Pact website to see everything they offer!

Brush Teeth

My husband and I still brush our kids’ teeth so we know that they’re extra clean. We count aloud slooowly to 100 so they can work on number awareness and make sure that we’re hitting that two-minute mark for brushing.

Storytime

A great way to settle my girls down is with storytime. We have a shelf full of gifted, free, and secondhand books and they both get to choose what we read each night. We all snuggle together to enjoy this peaceful moment.

Lights Out

We finally tuck them in right before 8:00pm. My husband and I focus on being patient, gentle, and as calm as possible with our girls so they don’t get riled back up.

15 Minute Check

After 15 minutes, I’ll peek my head in and check on them. Our girls share a room so it isn’t unusual for them to chat a bit before falling asleep. If they’re still awake, I give them another kiss and softly remind them to close their eyes, take deep breaths, and keep their bodies still.
