DIY sidewalk chalk paint is our latest obsession! I found the recipe when we were at our library a few weeks ago and when I read that you only need water, cornstarch, and food coloring, I knew that we had to try it!
You guys, it’s awesome! You mix the ingredients together to make paint, brush it on the ground, and when it dries it looks exactly like chalk. And just like chalk, it washes away easily with rain or a quick hose. In the words of my four-year-old, “Make some and you’ll be grateful!”

We love sidewalk chalk paint for summer time! I let my six-year-old help make ours, but you can easily do it yourself in a matter of minutes. We’ve made it a few times now and my kids have used every single drop of paint each time!
