We got our first box from Alltruists and I am so impressed! I recently partnered with them to share their products on Instagram, but we’ve been enjoying it so much that I had to share here. It’s such a fantastic tool to raise compassionate kids who are informed about the world!
Each Alltruists subscription box explores a different issue, from clean water to climate change, in a kid-friendly way. They’re meant to increase awareness about important social and environmental issues, guide your family through tough conversations, and provide age-appropriate ways to give back to the global community.
The topic of this box was homelessness and shelter. It came with five mini books that used real-life examples and images to discuss how people become homeless, the necessity of having a safe place to live, and realistic suggestions to volunteer or help people without homes.
The boxes also have supplies for hands-on activities that optimistically illustrate the issue. We had materials to:
- Make a beaded keychain to mail to an actual family moving into a new home.
- Build a mini house from cinder blocks and discuss how different homes are constructed.
- Paint a wooden door hanger to serve as a reminder of the importance of all people having a safe, loving home.
Talking about homelessness is obviously heartbreaking, but it’s rewarding seeing my kids inspired to spread kindness and fix iniquities in the world.
