Yes, you read that correctly.
I quit my job as a teacher.
And started a blog.
I know, I know. Who does that? It’s crazy and completely uncharacteristic of me. Every decision I’ve made throughout my life has been very analytical and practical and predictable…
Then I had kids and my perspective of the world changed along with my priorities.
I love my husband and kids more than the air I breathe, but I struggled with balancing work and family. How could I be the best wife for him when I was commuting almost an hour each way five days a week and bringing stacks of work home on the weekends? How could I be the best mom for my kids when I wasn’t present?
I couldn’t. Some women can do it all effortlessly, but I am not one of them.
After I became pregnant with our second baby, my husband and I talked about it almost every week and debated the pros and cons of me becoming a stay at home mom. Over the months, it became more and more clear that the answer was obvious: there was no better way for me to spend my time than with our girls.
It wasn’t easy to let go of the sense of security a job holds, but it was a necessary step to take for my family. My relationship with my husband is stronger because I have more time and energy for him and we have peace of mind knowing that we are fully in control of where our children are and how they’re growing and developing. I definitely have moments where things get tricky (because I’m with an infant and a toddler all day), but they’re small problems that work themselves out quickly.
I am so excited to write about my discoveries as a mom and a wife and I hope that you’ll be able to relate to aspects of my life! Thanks for joining me for the ride!
Here are my sweet girls, “Belly” (4 months) and “Goose” (2 years)!
