Peanut Butter and Jelly Smoothie

The Cinnamon Mom, stay at home mom bloggerThe number one chilly treat in our house this summer is a peanut butter and jelly smoothie. My girls ask for one practically every day! Full of classic childhood flavors, this peanut butter and jelly smoothie is a creamy, refreshing treat that we can’t get enough of. To make it even better, the recipe is simple enough that my kids (and probably yours) can make it by themselves.

Frozen Fruit

One of the reasons our peanut butter and jelly smoothie is so flavorful is that we don’t use ice cubes to keep it cool. Ice melts and can make drinks watery. Using frozen fruit ensures that you maintain the creaminess from first to last sip.

Greek Yogurt

As vegetarians, we always look for opportunities to infuse a little extra protein into what we consume. Greek yogurt is not only a good source of protein, but it’s largely responsible for the milkshake-y texture of our smoothies. Even just a little bit can make a difference.

Blender

You need a great blender to make sure all of your ingredients are well-incorporated. If you’re shopping for one, we bought a Ninja a couple of years ago, and it’s fantastic.  It also functions as a food processor, so we can slice, grate, shred, and mix everything we need. We love a multi-purpose appliance!
